Nothing but time

I was thinking the other day that I haven't worked for four entire months.... that is completely crazy for me since I've been working since the time I was 14 years old. And right now, I'm on a vacation within my "vacation" in Mexico enjoying the food, family, culture and warmth. The downside to this is that I am not at home to receive any information from the 15 law schools I ended up applying to. I had my father pick up the mail for me last week and I did get a bit of good news in that I was accepted to the Univerisity of San Diego J.D. program. It's one of my safety schools, but it was a huge relief to get that first one in hand.

Now, as I continue to monitor everyone else's status through the message boards and other sites listed on the left, I get more and more anxious. I should have recieved three or four other decisions by now judging by the stats of those already accepted at some of my other targets and safties. However, the post office won't let my dad collect the mail....or if he does, they won't hold it anymore for me....and we won't be back in town until January 10. So, I just wait.... he is going to stop one more time the day before he comes to Mexico for the wedding so I will hopefully have two very important events to celebrate that week. In the mean time, I'll eat a lot of great food and try to help prepare the last details of our wedding to keep my mind busy. Stay tuned as always....

Cue "Jeapordy" music!

Things have been pretty slow recently.... it's just a waiting game now. I finally have three letters of recommendation sent in so the schools can actually start reviewing my applications. It took a lot of proding and I ended up asking an additional person for my other LOR. Anyway, they are done and things are moving forward. I still have to send off two more applications. I need to write an additional essay for one (NYU) and do an interview for the other (Northwestern) , so they're "in progress". I've heard anectodal stories that both schools are LSAT heavy and other people have had success with split numbers like mine, so I'll have to get on these SOON....

In the meantime, we've been packing up the house AGAIN... this time it's a good thing, however. We finally sold our townhouse! So, we won't have to worry about paying a mortgage and rent when we go off to where ever it is we're going to be going. That is a huge relief! When we went to New Orleans, we were paying for two places the whole time and it completely sucked. We found a nice house to rent that is close enough to walk to work. The price is a little more than we were planning on paying, but everything else is perfect so we took it. We can also bring the dog back from Mexico, so that will be a lot of fun. House warming party date TBA so stay tuned.
